If you love beautiful landscapes do yourself a favor and tune in to the Masters today, even if just for a few minutes. Even if you don't like golf you will appreciate how this well-manicured course cuts it's way through the Augusta Georgia landscape. But the beauty of the Masters goes well beyond aesthetics.

Every year there is a defining shot, a moment that sets it apart from all the others before it. Unless you don't own a TV I'm sure you've seen Tiger's chip-in on the 16 hole from 2005, when the ball hung on the edge of the cup for what seemed life minutes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nJfhU…

It doesn't mater what happens in the coming years, for me one of humanity's finest moments will always be last year, when amateur Michael Thompson bogied the 15th hole. The University of Alabama student needed a birdie to go below the projected cut line and give him a chance to play the weekend rounds. As he stood over his ball on the lightening fast green to attempt a birdie putt, his ball shuttered - by the slightest amount visible to zooming high definition cameras. He backed off and called a stroke penalty on himself, in effect, eliminating himself from weekend contention. Thompson did not make contact with the ball, but by rule the fact that the ball moved meant a stroke penalty. He could only call the penalty on himself - no one else could. No doubt as a spectator that weekend he wished he was out there with the rest of the field, but his integrity has further solidified a most honorable sport.

I’ve selected a few features this week that remind me of The Masters Tournament in both their appearance and the emotions they elicit.

This photo by my friend :iconkayaksailor: is in memory of my nephew who lost his life recently. The color and texture of the flower are so nice and are complimented wonderfully by the framing.
